We would be willing to bet a lot of kids slept the whole way home from Saturday’s 98.1 WKDD Kidz Day at Boettler Park in Green. About 12,000 people came to enjoy non-stop entertainment – just as the radio station promised.
As the presenting sponsor of this awesome annual event, we are always thrilled to see kids having fun and families spending quality time together.
For a very small admission fee, families enjoyed a day of activities.
Nearly 85 stations offered stations for kids, including refreshments, several jumpy houses, crafts, mini golf course and, of course, Akron Children’s booth, which offered a scavenger hunt with prizes, temporary tattoos, sunglasses, giveaways for moms and dads and much more.
A sunny sky meant that Akron Children’s Air Bear helicopter could deliver on its promise to fly over the park and invite kids of all ages to get a closer look. And cooler temperatures allowed our Doggie Brigade teams to get in on the action. They made lots of new friends!
The event was also an opportunity for our Have a Heart, Do Your Part Radiothon team to remind the community that their help will once again be needed during the February radiothon with WKDD. About 1,500 Change Bandit buckets were passed out to eager kids ready to help other kids in need.
