“I Promise” was donated by the LeBron James Family Foundation. The tree beautifully encompasses the primary colors, blue, red and yellow and school items, such as pens, pencils, rulers. It also features a digital picture frame with photos of the sports icon with local students.
The tree is a symbolic representation of the special promise LeBron James makes with third and fourth-grade students in the Akron Public Schools.
In exchange for James serving as a positive role model and supporting the students throughout their years in school, the students promise to graduate high school and not become a statistic.
“It was important to LeBron that the tree is all about the kids,” said Taylor McLaughlin, a volunteer with the foundation.
Make sure to stop by and see this tree and many other holiday creations during the 2012 Holiday Tree Festival which takes place Nov. 17-25 at the John S. Knight Center.
