Akron Children’s Hospital has once again been recognized as more than just an excellent provider of patient care – it is also an excellent place to work.
For the sixth time, the Employers Resource Council (ERC) has named Akron Children’s Hospital as one of the best places to work in northeast Ohio. The hospital received its 2012 NorthCoast 99 award at a ceremony on Sept. 19.
Noting that Children’s has recently launched initiatives for employee and leadership development, Human Resources Vice President Walt Schwoeble said earning the award again is gratifying.
“It’s wonderful to be recognized for our commitment – and our employees’ commitment – to the exceptional patient care we deliver,” Schwoeble said. “Our culture is truly our biggest advantage, and it’s what makes this such a great workplace.”
Established in 1999, NorthCoast 99 is a yearly recognition program that salutes 99 northeast Ohio organizations that excel in creating workplaces that attract and retain top talent. The program’s developer, ERC, is northeast Ohio’s largest professional organization dedicated to human resources practices, programs and services.
In its report on the 2012 awards, the ERC highlights the ways NorthCoast 99 award winners – including Akron Children’s – differentiate themselves from other employers in these target areas:
- Attracting and finding top talent
- Paying/ rewarding top talent
- Developing top talent
