To show gratitude their gratitude for Akron Children’s Hospital, Patrick and his family are Change Bandits for the “Have a Heart, Do Your Part” radiothon, which airs Feb. 7-9 on 98.1 WKDD.
In February 2010, Patrick Trommer was born three and a half months early. While in Akron Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, he suffered serious setbacks, including brain and lung bleeds. But his loving family never lost hope.
Now 3, Patrick suffers from severe spastic cerebral palsy. But his grandmother, Mickey Sayer, said he is always happy and determined. He has therapy several times a week, and he’ll start preschool this month.
“He can’t do most things children his age can do,” Sayer said. “But he never complains, always wears a smile and communicates his love of life every day.”
