Employee campaign kicks off My Promise. My Children’s. campaign begins

With more than 700,000 patient visits at 80 locations in the region last year, the needs of Akron Children’s Hospital continue to grow.

From now until July, Akron Children’s is embarking on a 3-month, employee campaign, “My Promise. My Children’s.” on the Akron campus and “The Vision for Our Valley’s Children,” in the Mahoning Valley.

“My Promise. My Children’s.” supports the “Building on the Promise” campaign, which is the $200 million expansion program that will bring a new critical care tower to our Akron campus.

“The Vision for Our Valley’s Children” campaign to support Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley’s capital and programmatic needs.

To celebrate the beginning of the employee campaign, the Akron campus held two kickoff events from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on April 16 in the atrium lobby.

“Akron Children’s Hospital is one big family,” said Pam Holtz, director of annual giving. “When something good happens in a family, you want to celebrate. We wanted to celebrate the employee’s and Akron Children’s Hospital’s growth. There were a lot of fun activities planned for the kick off, but information about the campaign was also provided.”

The fun activities were planned so night shift employees could stop by on their way home and day shift employees could come down on their lunch breaks to enjoy some light-hearted events.

Some of the events included: a fortune teller, a gumball guessing game and a kissing booth. Hershey kisses were handed out at the kissing booth, not lip smooches. Fresh popcorn and cotton candy were also served.

“After the kick off at the main campus, we took the celebration on the road,” said Holtz. “We made popcorn and cotton candy deliveries to the pediatrician’s offices.”

Next stop: The Mahoning Valley will have their kickoff event on April 25.
