“You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.”  – Walt Disney

And it’s our generous supporters, in conjunction with the Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation, who helped make those dreams a reality in 2013 by raising more than $2.2 million for the hospital’s patient care programs.

Night at Movies -blogTo say thank you to the event coordinators, volunteers, Change Bandits and CMN partners, Akron Children’s Hospital recently hosted a “Night at the Movies” recognition event at the Akron Civic Theatre.

“We were looking for a way to recognize those individuals who go above and beyond for the hospital,” said Sara Lundenberger, special events coordinator for the Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation.

To bring some creativity to the event, everything was Disney-themed.

“Our venue inspired us to do something related to movies and Disney just made sense because we’re a children’s hospital,” said Joni Fitch, special projects coordinator for the Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation. “The theme really fits with our brand and this was a family-friendly event, so it was something the kids could enjoy also.”

More than 120 people, from more than 70 organizations and events, attended.

“We saw this as an opportunity to recognize event organizers among their peers, but also a chance for them to meet one another,” said Fitch.
