As most parents of young children, you unfortunately become very familiar with Urgent Care because sickness occurs at the most random times. Last week my husband and I brought our daughter to Urgent Care at Akron Children’s Hudson location on a Sunday afternoon.
We ended up at the Hudson location because it was the only location that was open in our neighborhood during at that time. We ended up there again about a week later with our son, because as you know, when one gets sick it’s only a matter of time before the next one catches it, no matter how you try to prevent that.
I found Akron Children’s from a Google search of Urgent Care Centers in our neighborhood. I am so THANKFUL I found it because it has been our “go-to” for the last year when our children are sick and we can’t get in to see their primary care physician.
Reasons Why We Love Akron Children’s Urgent Care
- They care… having young children in preschool its inevitable to avoid germs, especially during cold and flu season. The doctors that we have seen have been compassionate and build a rapport with you. They aren’t doctors that see you and send you on your way. They truly remember you and familiarize themselves with your case. My daughter was born with a Cleft Lip and Palate and although she goes to another hospital for all of her treatments, the doctors on staff ask about her progress and which phase of the surgeries we are in as if one of their own is handling her case. They make sure they know the history when they are treating her for anything.
- Close to Home…our family resides in Macedonia and they’re one of the few facilities in the area that focus on children. Many of the other Urgent Care Centers in the neighborhood will see children, but their primary focus is adult medicine. No parent likes when their children are sick so being able to go to an Urgent Care and be seen by pediatric doctors give you a peace of mind. I will never forget one of our visits when the doctor related my child’s case to one of her children. My mind was at ease because if she would treat her own child this way then I know mine is in good hands!
- Promptness…many parents hate taking children to Urgent Care because the wait time, however, even when we have been there and the waiting room is FULL, we have never had to wait more than 15 minutes. We have always been seen right away and we NEVER feel rushed! Whether you come in first thing in the morning or before close, the staff always take care of you.
