Kent State University and Walsh University had a common theme this spring: For the Kids! – the theme of dance marathons nationwide, supported by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
The story of Akron Children’s Hospital, dating back to 1890, includes an element about the power of volunteerism. A group of volunteers came together to talk about one thing – service above self.
To say thank you to the event coordinators, volunteers, Change Bandits and CMN partners who donated $878,741 last year, Akron Children’s Hospital hosted the “Night at the Movies” recognition event on March 20 at the Akron Civic Theatre.
It was an experience 30 years ago that motivated Candy Young and her mother, Delores, to become lifetime supporters of Akron Children’s Hospital.
The 15th annual “Have a Heart, Do Your Part” radiothon ended this year as another success. The radiothon kicked off on Feb. 12 during the Change Bandit Bash at the Sheraton Suites in Cuyahoga Falls. More than 300 people attended the Bash to turn in their spare change and enjoy food and giveaways as well as activities such as face painting.
After suspending a Christmas tree from a tower crane, and donating gifts to Akron Children’s patients during the holidays, Marge Zezulewicz, project architect manager for the new building under construction on the Akron campus, asked herself, “What’s next?”
