Bekah had a routine cardiology appointment a little over a month ago. For the last month I’ve been debating what to write about it and how I feel about what we learned there.

March 5, 2012, was a long day. We knew that the next morning we’d be taking Bekah to Akron Children’s Hospital for open heart surgery. It seemed like we spent the entire day just watching the clock, calculating how much time we had to spend with our baby girl before we needed to leave for the hospital.

Chris and I have been working on remodeling our house, well, since we bought it four or five years ago. For us, 2012 was a pretty big (and busy) year. Looking back, we’ve been amazed at all that has happened, and recently we spent some time discussing all that a year can bring.

Last Christmas I was overwhelmed by the generosity of a variety of people and organizations who brought gifts to the NICU for both the babies and their parents. Some of Bekah’s favorite things are those that she received last year as she lay in her tiny bed.
