Holiday Tree Festival volunteer spotlight: Jolea Swann


For 32 years, the Holiday Tree Festival has been presented to the community by the volunteers of Akron Children’s Hospital. It is the commitment of the volunteers that has made the festival a successful event that draws more than 250,000 attendees every year.

Holiday Tree Festival spotlight: Jedi Gino


The “Jedi Gino” tree was created in memory of 10-year-old Gino Altieri, who passed away June 2012 after a two-year battle with rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancer of the soft muscle tissue.

Holiday Tree Festival traditions get better with time


Thirty-two years ago a committee of volunteers, including Marilyn McGuckin, and the Quaker Square Hilton had a fundraising goal in mind, surrounding the holidays. The committee got together and wrote a letter asking community leadership for donations of trees and other holiday items.
