For more than 20 years, Tim Walters and the Akron/Canton Society of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) have been quietly donating holiday gifts to patients at Akron Children’s Hospital. The gifts don’t arrive in the still of the night rather on a scheduled December morning after the group finishes their annual shopping trip at Toys “R” Us.
The “Force” was clearly with Bobby Ina on a recent morning as he and a group of friends and clients gathered at the Montrose Toys R Us store to drop $6,000 on toys for patients of Akron Children, including Star Wars Legos and the other items expected to top wish lists this holiday season.
Canfield High School junior Max Lee wants to both entertain and inspire Akron Children’s patients who he encounters as part of a new volunteer initiative he helped establish. Max, a participant in the hospital’s Teen Outreach program, plays keyboard in the outpatient registration waiting room on the Beeghly campus for an hour each week.
