Every year, Akron Children’s Hospital rounds up a posse of individuals, schools, organizations and companies to become Change Bandits for the annual Have a Heart, Do Your Part Radiothon, presented by 98.1 WKDD. It’s easy to sign up to become a Change Bandit, and even easier to rustle some spare change from your friends, families, coworkers and other cowpokes.
Our bandits can get pretty creative with their efforts to raise money for Akron Children’s patients. Last year, three providers from our Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology braved a flurry of pies to help raise funds for the 2010 radiothon. Drs. William Riley and Cydney Fenton, as well as nurse practitioner Barb Hillegass, were chosen to get a pie in the face through voting by the center’s patients. Votes cost 25 cents each, raising $331 for the radiothon, with four lucky patients getting the opportunity to toss the pies.
We want to hear from this year’s Change Bandits on how they’re raising money for the Have a Heart, Do Your Part Radiothon. Share your story now. Or, if you haven’t already, sign up to become a Change Bandit.
