During the 2011 TV campaign, we’ve turned the camera on our doctors, so you can see what drives them.
One of these doctors is Joe Congeni. He is the director of our sports medicine program and a national expert on concussions. As the first pediatric sports medicine program in Ohio, the experts at Akron Children’s Hospital are on the forefront of hot topics in sports medicine, such as head injury and concussion management, community-acquired staph infections, female athlete triad, overuse injuries, the use of anabolic steroids among teen athletes, and sports burn-out.
Akron Children’s sports medicine program, which is part of the Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, includes doctors, athletic trainers, physical therapists, nurse practitioners and dietitians.
When Dr. Congeni isn’t helping athletes recover from concussions and other sports injuries, he helps coach his kids’ teams.
