The 2013 Kyle Stewart Day will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Aug. 3 at Clay’s Park, 13190 Patterson St. NW, North Lawrence.
The day will feature swimming, a corn hole tournament, raffles, live entertainment and many other family-friendly activities.
In 2012, the event raised more than $10,000.
All-day admission to the park is $12, and all of the proceeds will benefit the Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders. You can purchase tickets by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kyle Stewart Day was created in 2012 to celebrate the life of Kyle Stewart. Kyle was diagnosed at the age of 2 with AML A7, a rare form of leukemia. Kyle received a bone marrow transplant, and spent 45 days at Akron Children’s.
In 2009, he relapsed and after three more rounds of chemotherapy, he lost his battle with cancer two weeks before his fourth birthday.
“The event was created because Kyle’s mother wanted to give back to the hospital and to children who have cancer, in her son’s name,” said Nichole Gutshall, event co-chair.
