The Women’s Board of Akron Children’s Hospital once again partnered with the Northern Ohio Golf Charities, Inc. to raise money for Akron Children’s Hospital during the recent World Gold Championships® Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club.
Throughout the summer, members of the Women’s Board solicited pledges for the Birdies for Charity contest in which participants were asked to guess the number of birdies made during the Bridgestone Invitational.
A grand prize, $5,000, was awarded to Janis Worley, who had the closest guess for the number of birdies during this year’s tournament. Janis guessed 863, and the actual number was 856. Additional prizes were awarded during a drawing on Aug. 26.
This year’s winners were:
- $5,000: Janis Worley
- 42” flat screen TV: Andy Borland
- Bridgestone golf clubs and bag: Sherrie Kimberly
- Set of four Bridgestone tires: Barbara McGuagan
- Driver and gold head cover: Pauline Chase
The money raised from the Birdies for Charity fundraiser will directly benefit the more than 700,000 children who are treated at Akron Children’s Hospital each year.
