Whether it’s the Akron and Mahoning Valley radiothons, or celebrities visiting patients and dancing to raise money and awareness for the hospital, we’re always proud to share the good work that’s being done on behalf of the hospital.
“HO HO HO, Merry Christmas!” The sound of Santa’s voice crackles through a hand-held radio device. The little girl, wearing a tiger gown, perks up and smiles, her eyes alight as she hears Santa calling her name.
Parents have dreams of bringing home their babies shortly after birth, and for many reasons, that dream doesn’t come to fruition for the families we serve. It is the role of the medical team to lead our families through this difficult time while enhancing their quality of life.
Each December, the volunteer offices are overwhelmed with holiday cheer and donations for Akron Children’s patients, and this year was no different.
Though ice hockey isn’t as popular down here in Akron as it is to our north, it’s a great sport for youth to learn. Like football and basketball, it offers team-building skills and a great cardiovascular workout.
