Moving 12 medically fragile babies from a NICU in Youngstown to a new one is Boardman takes a great deal of planning and hard work. I’ve been in the meetings and have heard the conversations, but when the day arrived, everyone did their part to make it a smooth transition for baby and our patient families.
As a non-clinical person, I was impressed by the calm and organized manner in which each baby was transported. The doctors, respiratory therapists and transport personnel would often say to me, “We do this every day; this is what we do.” And they do it so well.
The parents I spoke to were thankful for the manner in which their little one was transported, the care they received and the beautiful rooms they will temporarily call home while they care for their baby.
For these parents who experience long days and nights caring for their baby, what a gift this beautiful, peaceful, new unit provides them.
