The 9th annual Hail to the Chefs event will take place on Friday, May 30, at 7 p.m. at the Lake Forest Country Club in Hudson, Ohio.
Featuring great food, cocktails, entertainment and a charity auction, the event is a preview gala for the 2014 Taste of Hudson event and a fundraiser for local charities and nonprofits, including Akron Children’s Hospital.
“We’re proud to be affiliated with Akron Children’s Hospital,” said Andy Malitz, executive director of Taste of Hudson. “Our community and our families have greatly benefited from the hospital’s services and the expertise of its exceptional staff.”
At this year’s event, Dr. Jeffrey Hord, director of childhood cancer and blood disorders at Akron Children’s Hospital, will be honored with the first ever Heart of Hudson Award.
The award recognizes an Akron Children’s staff member who lives in Hudson and is an outstanding representative of the community.
“I’ve been blessed in so many ways,” said Dr. Hord. “I enjoy good health and have a loving, supportive family. I work in a profession where I feel like I make a difference in the lives of the children and families for whom I care. I work for Akron Children’s Hospital and the great staff there, with whom I share many values, including treating others as we would want to be treated. And I live in the wonderful community of Hudson, which is a great place to raise a family with excellent public and private schools, an active church at St. Mary’s, wonderful parks and so many family-oriented activities. Because of all the benefits my family and I have received, I feel compelled to give back to the community and to those in need.”
