At Akron Children’s Hospital, we’re grateful for all our donor “champions” who dedicate their time, talent and treasure to support our hospital and its mission.
In May, we enjoyed returning the favor during our Champions for Children’s and Champions for Our Valley’s Children events. Both evenings gave us an opportunity to celebrate our hospital supporters while honoring distinguished donors who generously support our mission and fundraising efforts.
“Lots of donors make a contribution to Akron Children’s as a way to give back or say ‘thank you’ for the care a child or loved one received,” said John Zoilo, executive director of Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Our Champions events are our opportunities to thank them for their commitment to us and our patients.”
Champions for Our Valley’s Children
At the 4th annual Champions for Our Valley’s Children celebration dinner at the Lake Club in Poland, we celebrated our progress in the Mahoning Valley and recognized those who made it possible, including our donors, volunteers, staff and community partners. Handel’s Ice Cream’s “Koins for Kids” campaign received the Champion for Our Valley’s Children Award. The honor celebrated the campaign’s efforts in raising nearly $175,000 for Mahoning Valley programs and services.
Members of the hospital’s 3 giving societies gathered at the Hilton Fairlawn for the 9th annual Champions for Children’s donor appreciation dinner. The evening featured a special co-host: former patient Anthony Solari. This year, we bestowed the Children’s Champion Award to Richard and Joanne Grigg, “An Evening of Wine and Wishes,” and The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.
“We’re honored and privileged to enjoy a long and strong partnership with the champions that we acknowledged at these events,” Zoilo said. “These awardees epitomize the essence of the philanthropic spirit, and the good work that we do wouldn’t be possible without them.”
