Ever wonder what a day is like inside Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley?
On Oct. 8, 15 community leaders got the chance to experience this firsthand during the annual Children’s Up-Close event.
Modeled after a similar program designed by the American Medical Association, individuals from a range of backgrounds and professions spent the day at our Beeghly campus to learn more about pediatric healthcare in the Mahoning Valley, as well as the rewards and challenges of working in a children’s hospital.
Participants teamed up with members of our medical staff in areas like primary care, surgery, emergency medicine, and hematology/oncology and accompanied them during their daily activities.
As they observed office visits and participated in hospital rounds, they talked with staff about their work and learned more about their perspectives on important pediatric healthcare issues.
