The Mahoning Valley Healthy Kids Coalition, led by Akron Children’s Mahoning Valley, is conducting a free “Eat Healthy, Be Active Parent/Child Program” in 4 locations starting this week.
The program includes 6 weekly, 1-hour classes where parents and their preschool children gather for fun games, lessons and prizes designed to teach the importance of physical activity and nutrition. Parents also learn the medical and learning implications of childhood obesity.
All families are welcome; there is no cost to participate and pre-registration is not required.
Funding is provided by the William Swanston Charitable Fund, a supporting organization of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. Other partners include the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, Mahoning County District Board of Health and Junior League of Youngstown.
Locations include the Newport Branch Library in Youngstown and Tri-Lakes Branch Library in North Jackson on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. starting Jan. 6 and running through Feb. 10
Trumbull County locations include the Liberty Branch Library on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m., Jan. 6 – Feb. 10, and the Warren Main Branch Library on Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m., Jan. 7 – Feb. 11.
