February 4, 2015 was a monumental day in our family’s lives. Kandice Jean Ramsey turned 5 months old and her journey at Akron Children’s Hospital ended. She went home!
Our prayers have been answered. Thanks to all of you who have followed our story, and God is good.
We wish to also thank the AMAZING medical team at Akron Children’s, the caretakers at Ronald McDonald House, and everyone who works at the hospital from Housekeeping, Life Services, PICU staff, nurses, doctors and volunteers. I don’t want to leave anyone out, so thank you to ALL of the employees who work there.
Kandice has survived open heart surgery at 3 weeks, heart failure, all of her organs failing, a heart cath (which was a first success at a baby her size), being on a ventilator for 3.5 months…the list goes on.
This hospital has been an amazing experience, and I have never seen so much care on every level for the baby and the families. She will go home with a few more issues, but not life threatening.
Her voice will return some day – she lost it due to being on a ventilator for so long. She feeds through a G-tube and has developmental delays which will all come back in time. She is thriving and will return to Akron for doctor visits to monitor her growth.
We are truly blessed with this MIRACLE baby! Again, thank you for following the family’s journey with your prayers, comfort, generosity etc. as we shed some tears with this miraculous day! XXOO to all of you!
