Thanks to the generosity of Subaru buyers in the Mahoning Valley, Akron Children’s Hospital received a donation of more than $30,000.
The donation was part of the 7th annual Subaru Share the Love campaign, in which Subaru of America donates $250 for every vehicle sold or leased from Nov. 21 to Jan. 2 to charitable organizations.
Buyers select 1 charity from a list of 5, which include 4 national charities and a local charity.
The Boardman Subaru dealership chose Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley. And on top of the $25,877 raised from the sale of Subarus, the dealership donated an additional $5,000.
“We were thrilled to be selected as the local hometown charity partner for this year’s Subaru ‘Share the Love’ event,” said JoAnn Stock, director of development for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.
Rob Fellman, owner of Boardman Subaru, was glad to be a part of the most successful “Share the Love” event in Subaru’s history.
“On behalf of the customers who purchased a Subaru during the Share the Love campaign, we’re honored to make this donation to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley,” said Fellman during a check presentation on March 12.
This year, Subaru of America donated $15 million to 4 national charities and more than 600 “Hometown Charities” throughout the country. Since the program began 7 years ago, Subaru of America has donated a total of $50 million to a number of worthy causes through the campaign.
Fellman noted that the $30,877 donation was one of the largest donations to a local charity in the country for this campaign. More than $8 million was donated to local charities nationally.
“It’s inspiring and humbling to receive this donation from Boardman Subaru and its customers,” said Bill Considine, president and CEO of Akron Children’s Hospital “This enables us to continue to touch more lives in the Mahoning Valley.”
