There are many ways patients and families say “thank you” to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley for making a difference in their lives.
On May 12, we got the chance to thank those who make a difference to us during the 5th annual Champions for Our Valley’s Children Celebration Dinner.
Guests filled The Lake Club in Poland, Ohio, to celebrate our continual progress in the Valley and recognize those who made it possible – our donors, volunteers, staff and community partners.
Eleanor Watanakunakorn received the Champion for Our Valley’s Children award in appreciation for her outstanding support and generosity, particularly her $1 million gift toward the newly renovated special care nursery on our Beeghly campus.
Jill and Ed Maughan spoke to guests about their recent experience at the special care nursery after the birth of their triplets, Ali, Eddie and Charlie.
“The doctors, nurses and specialists at Akron Children’s helped me bring 3 happy and healthy babies into this world,” said Jill. “They touched our lives every step of the way.”
The Tod Family also received the first-ever Champion for Our Valley’s Children Legacy Award, recognizing their long-standing service and legacy of caring for the healthcare needs of children throughout the Mahoning Valley.
We also honored 4 Children’s Advocate Award honorees: Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, St. Elizabeth Dental Clinic, Touched by Nathan Foundation and The Vindicator. These outstanding organizations exhibit a true spirit of caring and work to make a difference in the lives of the children in the communities we serve.
