A ribbon cutting with elected officials (back row), medical providers (center), patients and administrators celebrated the new Warren West office on Aug. 20.
A short pause in seeing patients recently gave our Warren team of Akron Children’s Hospital Pediatrics a chance to show off their new office, which was designed through the eyes of a child.
About 25 elected officials and community leaders attended the lunch-time event to help cut the ribbon with a few young patients, while also learning about Akron Children’s commitment to caring for the children of Trumbull County.
About 3,000 children are expected to make the new location their medical home: from well child check-ups to immunizations, physicals, chronic disease management and treatment for illness and injury.
Dr. Souheir Saker, along with nurse practitioners Dayne Adkins and Allison Lantz, will care for the babies, children and teens. The office is located at 661 Mahoning Ave. NW. near downtown Warren.
“We recognize the need to bring Akron Children’s pediatric expertise closer to where our families live,” Akron Children’s President & CEO William Considine told attendees. “This beautiful, new space allows us another way to fulfill our promise to care for all children as we would our own and to work tirelessly so all children can reach their full potential.”
Akron Children’s first primary care office in Warren is at 5000 East Market St., which opened in 2011, has about 10,000 patients and had 23,368 patient visits last year.
Akron Children’s also provides other services in Trumbull County including urgent care, lab, radiology, cardiology, EKG, neurology, orthopedics, pulmonology, urology, and a pediatric inpatient unit and a special care nursery at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
