On June 16, more than 50 corporate executives gathered at National Interstate Insurance headquarters in Richfield for Akron Children’s Hospital’s 4th annual CEO Gathering event.
Led by National Interstate President and CEO Tony Mercurio and Akron Children’s President and CEO Bill Considine, the event was an opportunity for local corporate leaders to come together for a morning of networking and education.
Mercurio has worked for National Interstate for 20 years and has been the company’s CEO for 2 months. He says he can learn a lot from Considine’s 37 years as Akron Children’s CEO and will have the opportunity to as Akron Children’s and National Interstate grow their partnership.
“Akron Children’s Hospital is an organization that really demonstrates what servant leadership is all about,” said Mercurio. “The people I’ve met there are full of integrity, which is why our partnership with Akron Children’s works.”
National Interstate is the presenting sponsor of the upcoming Akron Children’s Hospital Akron Marathon Race Series 8K & 1 Mile, and Mercurio will be lacing up for the 8K race.
“When you get companies like National Interstate to be a major sponsor, that’s real partnership,” Considine said of National Interstate’s involvement with the Akron Children’s Hospital Akron Marathon Race Series.
After networking, breakfast and presentations from Mercurio and Considine, attendees were able to tour National Interstate’s campus.
“There’s a phenomenal partnership we’re developing with National Interstate, and when you talk about Akron Children’s Hospital, we’re all about partnership,” said Considine. “We want to make sure we work with various partners throughout the communities we’re in so we can provide the very best care to the children.”
