Faith was born 7/9/08 at 27 weeks. She spent 63 days in the NICU. The doctors told me she would be there at least 3 months.
She has PVL (a type of brain injury that affects infants), asthma, severe learning disabilities, and a few years ago, she got bit by a tick and got Lyme disease. I remember the doctors telling me she will be little for her age, probable the rest of her life.
She is now 8 years old and is in the 95th percentile and has been there since before her first birthday.
Recently I visited the NICU at Akron Children’s Hospital to see my boyfriend’s niece. I was so surprised when the nurses remembered me and Faith from 8 years ago. I wanted to let everyone know she is going good and she is not letting anything get in her way. She does have struggles but she pushes through just like the little fighter she was in the NICU.
She’s in 2nd grade now. She loves school. It is a challenge for her but it does not stop her. She would not be where she is today without all the hard wok, love and care from everyone that helped her in the NICU.
