I would recommend this children’s hospital to anybody! My daughter, McKenzi, was born Jan. 9, 2014, at MedCentral (OhioHealth) Mansfield Hospital. After giving birth to her, they placed her in my arms and let me feed her. She ate with no problem, but later through the evening and next day she got to where she had poor suction and then she wouldn’t eat at all. So they ran tests on her.
She was losing pulse and everything in her lower extremities, so they knew something serious was going on. They had to get her somewhere to give her the care that she needed, so we were transported to Akron Children’s Hospital. I thank God every day, because if we would have went home that day my daughter would not be here today!
After arriving in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) they did every test they could do to see what was wrong with my baby girl. I stood beside her not being able to hold her. I knew that she was sick and that God and Akron Children’s Hospital have in her good hands.
After spending several days in the NICU, she was diagnosed with a heart defect. The main aorta needed repaired due to her having a narrowing in it. We spent almost a month in Akron Children’s NICU and PICU (pediatric intensive care unit)!
My daughter is now a healthy little 2 year old, I can’t thank all the doctors and nurses in the NICU and the PICU for the loving care they gave to her!
Also thank you Dr. Wasim Khan– he’s an awesome heart doctor. During every visit, he puts a smile on our faces!
