Ron and Maureen Russ made a donation to Akron Children’s through the gift of a life insurance policy.
After two life-altering events, the Russ family shares an unbreakable bond with Akron Children’s Hospital.
In 2005, Ron and Maureen Russ’ newborn daughter Madison passed away from a brain malformation. Three years later, 6-month-old son Jack lost his life after a car accident. Ron, Maureen and their other children – Casey, Bailey, Emma and Alexis – regained their balance through love, faith, family and helping others.
“During the most tragic times in our lives, Akron Children’s was there for us,” said Maureen. “Its culture of care made all the difference for our family.”
“We knew we wanted to give back,” said Ron. “We decided that the best thing we could do is make sure that the hospital continues to be there for other families.”
The Russes chose to give Akron Children’s a gift of a whole life insurance policy. Life insurance policies make impactful gifts. Through relatively small annual premium payments, a sizeable charitable gift to the hospital can be realized.
“We are able to help secure the hospital’s future by making a much larger gift than we ever thought possible,” said Maureen.
“Our Akron Children’s story is one of many,” added Ron. “There will always be a need. It’s up to families like ours and others to make sure the hospital can continue to meet those needs for years to come.”
