Bob’s care team surprised him with a Cleveland Browns shirt that they signed, a good luck cookie and a case of his favorite drink, Sprite Zero, with a bow made of gauze. Pictured with him just before discharge are Clinical Nurse Manager Heather Belacic, Occupational Therapist Jessica Grossman, and Registered Nurses Cat Keck, Jina Eichler and Stephanie Cook.
65-year-old Bob Andres is one step closer to getting home after spending 165 days in our Paul and Carol David Foundation Burn Institute. He came to Akron Children’s after a fire in his Youngstown home, where his dog, Suzi, woke Bob and his brother up and saved their lives. Bob suffered 40% burns all over his body and had pneumonia twice during his stay.

Despite his complications, he made a big impression on his doctors and nurses who called him “Miracle Bob” and cheered him on as he headed off to the next step of his journey: rehab, where he will learn to walk again. Good luck “Miracle Bob!”
