Thanks to grant funding, Akron Children’s Expressive Therapy Center has been partnering with community artists
This year, to honor the American Dream and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we in the Emily Cooper Welty Expressive Therapy Center constructed a dream quilt. The ideas was to create an inter-hospital activity that encouraged creativity and highlighted the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., “I have a dream that…”
We placed this quotation on every quilt square and then offered the squares to anyone in the hospital who wanted to participate. We asked that they answer the question “I have a dream that…”, either literally or figuratively.
Lately, curious heads are popping in to visit. We have seen employees from environmental service, employee health, maintenance and even an Air Bear® pilot.
