So when doctors, nurses, patients and hospital visitors noticed the shiny black racer with top speeds of 235 mph parked outside the front door of Akron Children’s Hospital on Aug. 2, they couldn’t help but climb inside and grab the wheel.
Golf pro Martin Laird and his wife, Meagan, in Akron for this weekend’s World Golf Championship–Bridgestone Invitational, stopped by Akron Children’s to visit with patients and distribute homemade quilts. The nonprofit group, Quilts for Kids, donated 120 quilts to the hospital. The quilts are stitched by volunteers all across the country.
