As you firm up holiday plans for December, be sure to leave Monday, Dec. 1, open to attend the 20th Annual Project Ed Bear Gala Auction at Quaker Station to benefit cancer patients at Akron Children’s Hospital.
For the past 32 years, cancer and blood disorder patients from Akron Children’s Hospital have had an opportunity for fun and adventure with their hospital caregivers during the weekend-long Camp Ed Bear. And this year’s circus theme was a hit with campers of all ages.
It was an experience 30 years ago that motivated Candy Young and her mother, Delores, to become lifetime supporters of Akron Children’s Hospital.
Thankfully the only bears at this year’s Camp Ed Bear were of the stuffed variety.
This yearly tradition, which started in 1982, offered a weekend of fun and games at Camp Carl in Ravenna for 91 kids who have or are currently undergoing treatment for cancer or blood disorders at Akron Children’s Hospital.
