Grant-funded program will help kids touched by trauma – such as school shootings, domestic violence and illness
Childhood trauma comes in many shapes and sizes. People might typically think of mass shooting or a natural disaster, but trauma can also stem from domestic violence, divorce, the death of a loved one and even a chronic illness in the family. Akron Children’s has been awarded a $1.6 million federal grant to provide services and support to children and families who have experienced psychological trauma.
