MIchelle Myers contacted Michelle Matthews of “Angel Gowns by Michelle” back in November 2014, and within weeks the hospital received 25 gowns, caps and little wraps for micro-preemies. Matthews has been making these gowns, most of them not much longer than a pencil to fit these tiniest of babies, after seeing first-hand while working in a NICU the grief parents go through after losing a newborn.

Born at 27 weeks gestation, twins thrive after spending months in NICU
My twins, Henry and Olivia, were born on Sept. 23, 2013. They came into this world at the small hospital in my town at 27-weeks gestational age. Henry was born after one hour of labor and weighed 2 lbs., 13 oz. Livvi was more stubborn and the doctors had to perform an emergency C-section.

All Fired Up to help NICU families
The first time I heard the acronym “NICU” was in 2006, as the owner of All Fired Up Akron, a paint-your-own pottery and glass fusing studio. I was approached by the March of Dimes to create an event to help families with babies in Akron Children’s NICU to create memories and keepsakes of their precious babies. I jumped at the chance to help parents in need.

August 3, 2010 was a life changing day for our family. With the help of Dr. John Stewart, Akron General Medical Center and Akron Children’s Hospital, my husband and I welcomed quintuplets into the world. Within two minutes we went from a family of four to a family of nine!
